How email works here

What we send. The current categories are post activity notifications, moderation updates, the weekly indictment roundup, and Offender Sender launch or product updates.

Who gets email. Transactional product emails go only to addresses tied to user accounts or site activity. Editorial emails go only to visitors or users who explicitly subscribed through the site.

No purchased lists. We do not buy, scrape, rent, or import third-party email lists. Recipients must come from first-party signups or account activity within the product.

Cadence. The weekly indictment is designed to send at most once per week. Offender Sender is occasional and tied to launches or updates. Post activity emails are event-driven.

Opt-out controls. Users can manage email preferences from /profile. Email sends include unsubscribe links for the relevant email type. The public unsubscribe flow is available at /unsubscribe.

Suppression behavior. When a user unsubscribes, we record that preference and suppress future sends for the relevant email category. We also maintain suppression for addresses that generate bounce or complaint feedback through our email provider.
